01. Our Zero-Retention Commitment

At View Once, security and privacy are not features—they are our core identity. We enforce a strict zero-retention policy. Notes are stored in an encrypted format in our database and are permanently hard-deleted immediately after they are read, or when their expiration timer runs out. We maintain absolutely no backups, logs, or archives of your note content. Once a note is destroyed, it is gone forever.

02. Encryption Mechanics

Your notes are securely encrypted. We employ two tiers of encryption depending on your configuration:

• Standard Encryption: Handled serverside using Laravel's secure AES-256-CBC wrapper utilizing your application key.
• Password Protection: Uses key-derivation (PBKDF2-SHA256 with 100,000 iterations) directly derived from your custom passphrase, ensuring that no one can decrypt the note without knowing the exact password.

03. No Tracking & Cookies

We do not track you. We do not use persistent cookies for user profiling or advertising. If a creator specifies a notification email address, that email is securely encrypted and stored temporarily in-memory/cache. It is automatically purged the moment the notification triggers or the note expires. It is never linked to the note ID.

04. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the View Once platform to transmit illegal materials, viruses, spyware, spam, or other malicious content. You are solely responsible for the links you generate and distribute. Since we have no access to decrypted content, we cannot monitor transmissions but will comply with legally binding deletion requests if valid server tokens are provided.

05. Disclaimer of Warranty

This service is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind. View Once is not responsible for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss resulting from the use of this website, including but not limited to the accidental deletion of notes, encryption key mismatches, or system downtime.
